She has a name!

This is Allison~

Emma Madison Obert

Doug named her and I chose her middle name. I held out for a long time, but Doug was very firm. I just wasn't sure it sounded right, etc, but what the heck, that's what we're going with. I even registered for a pacifer with her name on it (kind of silly, but oh well). I can't wait until little Emma gets here. It's not much longer, only 102 days, wowza! And I have so much to do. SIGH. :) But it's going to be wonderful.

I just finished going through the free stuff I got at Target when I registered. Huggies included some teeny weeny diapers. So teeny and precious! Sorry, I guess I'm being overly dramatic, but I'm just so excited.

Little Emma, we love you so much! Mommy and Daddy can't wait!

Registered

This is Allison

Well, I am partially registered now. Jenni (one of mine and Jenn's mutual surrogate friends) went with me to BabiesRUs last night. Wow, quite overwhelming to someone that's not used to all those items. LOL. Plus, I'm not a huge "pink" fan and it seemed everytime I picked something out, Jenni would laugh and roll her eyes at me. :) We both agreed that the baby will probably be all "princessy" and love pink just because I don't. I'm sure at some point it will grow on me though. I still have a few decisions to make on bedding, furniture and a few pieces of equipment. I'm trying to work on that this weekend. So many decisions. I know I'm probably being a little overly dramatic about it, but I bet every new mother was the same way. There are so many cute things out there, I mean, you could really go crazy and overboard. I really haven't bought anything yet other than two pair of socks that were on clearance last night. And yes, they were pink. :) Figuring out the difference between bodysuits, onesies, sleep n plays, etc is also interesting. I know I'll learn all of this stuff eventually, but it's all new to me. Neither Doug nor I have been around babies very much. I did some babysitting and worked at a daycare while in college, but geez, that was 20 yrs ago. We don't really have friends that have very small children either, so we're not familiar with everything, but I'm sure we'll learn pretty quick.

I gave my moma the task of picking out the outfit that the baby will wear home from the hospital. She called me today and told me she found something. I love that she's excited about it. She should be shipping it to me next week. I can't wait to see it.

Well, that's about it for now. It's hard to believe that our little girl will be here in less than 4 months. So very exciting, I can't wait to meet her. :)

Thought it would be fun!

This is Jenn ~

So, now that Allison & Doug know what they are having - in case you are living in a hole somewhere, its a girl :) - Allison is ready to start registering for baby stuff! She has asked me for a little help, so we are planning to go on Sunday, but I thought it would be fun to ask you all to comment with the things you found most useful when you had your baby. Its been 6 years since I've done this and there are allot of new things that look cool, but are they really useful????

When my youngest was a baby, my favorite thing, hands-down, was the portable swing! He lived in that thing! He took almost every nap in it, he would play and stay happy with the lights & sounds when I was too busy to play with him, and it even traveled with us to grandma's house when we would go for visits. There aren't very many infant pics of him NOT in that swing :)

What suggestions do you have???
