Registered

This is Allison

Well, I am partially registered now. Jenni (one of mine and Jenn's mutual surrogate friends) went with me to BabiesRUs last night. Wow, quite overwhelming to someone that's not used to all those items. LOL. Plus, I'm not a huge "pink" fan and it seemed everytime I picked something out, Jenni would laugh and roll her eyes at me. :) We both agreed that the baby will probably be all "princessy" and love pink just because I don't. I'm sure at some point it will grow on me though. I still have a few decisions to make on bedding, furniture and a few pieces of equipment. I'm trying to work on that this weekend. So many decisions. I know I'm probably being a little overly dramatic about it, but I bet every new mother was the same way. There are so many cute things out there, I mean, you could really go crazy and overboard. I really haven't bought anything yet other than two pair of socks that were on clearance last night. And yes, they were pink. :) Figuring out the difference between bodysuits, onesies, sleep n plays, etc is also interesting. I know I'll learn all of this stuff eventually, but it's all new to me. Neither Doug nor I have been around babies very much. I did some babysitting and worked at a daycare while in college, but geez, that was 20 yrs ago. We don't really have friends that have very small children either, so we're not familiar with everything, but I'm sure we'll learn pretty quick.

I gave my moma the task of picking out the outfit that the baby will wear home from the hospital. She called me today and told me she found something. I love that she's excited about it. She should be shipping it to me next week. I can't wait to see it.

Well, that's about it for now. It's hard to believe that our little girl will be here in less than 4 months. So very exciting, I can't wait to meet her. :)

so with you on the pink, the color actually causes a violent surge in me. if we get a girl (fingers crossed) there will be little to no pink, she is just going to have to wear a sign that says, "yes, i am a girl but my mother is depriving me of princess pink." guess i better hope for a big baby to wear that big sign. all the gear is very overwhelming, but you will figure it out. really, as long as they are warm, have a place to sleep, a stroller, carseat, a swing and a bouncy vibrating chair you will be just fine.

so excited that you are to this point!!!

Allison, registering can be overwhelming but it's so much fun too! I would say you really don't need all the fancy stuff but it is fun looking at and picking it out. One thing I couldn't live w/o would be the swing or a vibrating chair-somewhere to put baby while you shower cuz it always seems they wake up just as you're about to climb in. Also, loved my Boppy pillow. Used it for feeding, then to put around baby when she starts sitting up to help balance her.
